MBDA meet your artist craft and fashion workshop week

With the Support of noted Sponsors Dieter Van Den Bergh and Stephanie Van Den Bergh amongst other hosts, have been able to organise an event that will highlight the craft talent in the Eastern Cape and Port Elizabeth especially.

The days mentioned below are open to the public. Please some and show support.


23 July – Day 1 – Tuesday

8:00Designers and Crafters arrive at Athenaeum.
8:30Designer and Crafter meet and greet.
Designers give short background and examples of their work and work planned for the workshop. Crafters bring examples of work. Designers split crafters into 3 teams of 5 crafters to one designer.
10:00 Tea is served
10:30Workshop starts
During the first day workshop each crafter will receive a "goodie" bag. The bag will include a mix of materials and tools which the crafters can play and practice on with the guidance of the designer. This first piece of work will also form part of a mounted display at the final exhibition.
13:00Lunch is served
14:00Workshop continues
16:30Organising team collects work completed


24 July – Day 2 - Wednesday

8:00Designers and Crafters arrive at Athenaeum.
8:30 Workshop commences
Crafters will now follow instruction from designers in starting their planned product.
10:00 Tea is served
10:30Workshop continues
13:00Lunch is served
14:00Workshop continues
17:00 Workshop concludes for the day

25 July - Day 3 - Thursday

8:00Designers and Crafters arrive at Athenaeum.
8:30 Workshop commences
Crafters will now follow instruction from designers to start the planned product.
10:00 Tea is served
10:30Workshop continues
13:00Lunch is served
14:00Workshop continues
17:00 Workshop concludes for the day

26 July - Day 4 – Friday

8:00Crafters arrive at Athenaeum.
Buyers lounge opens.
8:30Hope factory mentors host an entrepreneurial workshop with the crafters.
10:00Tea is served
10:30 NMMU Fashion Students arrive to attend the crafter student meet and great.
Designers attend and chat to students.
13:00 Lunch is served
14:00Trend Talk by Craig Jacobs
17:00 Day 5 concludes

27 July - Day 5 – Saturday

9:00 Buyers Lounge opens
14:00 Buyers Lounge closes

An Exclusive, invite only exhibition will be held to exhibit the products created.
The exhibition will be open for public viewing at the Athenaeum from Monday 29 July till Friday 2 August.
